Have to pick a binding, but I could not even look at it today. I also used a ruler because most of the designs are diagonal and can't be quilted freehand on a longarm. Hate the way they came out. I just have a hard time hanging on to a ruler with one hand and move the machine with the other. All kinds of movement going on.
Second flop. I bought a kit which I hardly ever do but I loved the fabric and it was cheaper than I could buy the yardage. The star pattern was written different than I had ever seen. I even made a freezer paper template for the pattern pieces. Finished all 8 points and, drumroll, the angle is wrong so they do not come all the way around to make a star. I just can't find out what I did wrong. I am sure it is a whopper error.

Oh, my I feel your agony here. One thing piles on another and then it all over whelms. Accept the design alterations from your original....pretend you meant it to be that way. In ohter words, lie to yourself that it is fine. Second, forget the blasted/dang/bad word, bad word rulers! They should come with a sign warning that there use requires diligent and coordinated effort....involving complete concentration, months of practice, total mental focus and etc. Personally, I would rather do wiggly lines, or meander than have to deal with them. But that is just me.
Have no advice or help on the stars, but know it is above frustrating. Leave it for a while and then come back to it and maybe you will see the problem.
SEW sorry to hear that you had a tough quilting week. No fun!!
Take a deep breath and let those errors go. You'll find a way to fix the star in a few days. The quilt top is lovely.
I love your "one of these is not like the others" - I do that on purpose sometimes - you can always pretend that you did, too! Your stars - been there - done that. They look like they should work - but you never really know until you try to put them together. Could you "fix" them by sewing a sashing strip on each side of the "point" and then re-cutting them using a 45-degree line (on a ruler or your mat) PLUS a 1/4" for the seam allowance? Disclaimer - it works in my head - but I haven't tried it - LOL - ;))
It took me two times searching through the blocks on your quilt to find the one that is different. I haven't tried using rulers for quilting, but it seems like it would be very awkward. The fabrics in your star pieces are gorgeous! I hope you can figure out how to make them work.
Hey friend! Sometimes you just need to take a break and have a cup of tea with a friend! Your quilt is beautiful. Very different than the last ones of yours I saw. I had to look twice and really examine it to find the mistake. I’ve always heard that the Amish master quilt makers purposely include a mistake in every quilt because only God is perfect. You and I don’t have to try that hard! Miss you. Let’s catch up next year when I’m back home. Happy Holidays.
Here’s my pick in case you didn’t recognize my blog name. I’m new at this.
I too took two times through to find the dissenting block. Maybe call it out with some colored quilting and match the binding to it so it is very intentional. Then give it a cheeky name and send it on its way.
Rulers can't be used without gloves and quite possibly a table extension (though my experience is limited to a regular domestic setup).
Linda, after much searching I eventually found the star!! Truly I wouldn't worry about it one jot.
You have a lovely quilt there. Oh dear on the second issue, lovely fabric but not a help if the angle is off.
Sorry about the sewing problems. Never fun. Maybe add sashing between the star point pieces????
