Dance away, stars

      A long while ago, I took a Square in a Square Workshop. Bought the ruler and the books. Made two quilts. I just don't like the method- I think it wastes a lot of fabric and everything is on the bias. The easy quilt has been long given away. The Dancing Star pattern was a lot of work and trimming. It is finally done and quilted- just needs a binding. I just am not in love with it. It is a comfort quilt, so I am hoping to find it a home where someone really likes it. First time using the ruler on the long arm for a lot of the lines. Boy, I really stink at it.

      Finally the quilt top is done. This is the last quilt I will make using the Square in a Square Method. It does work, I just like to not have so much strange shape waste and don't like the constant trimming process. It is not like any other quilt I have made, so my thoughts are not sure if I like it. .

Dancing Star

      Almost two years ago, a rep from Square in a Square came to our guild and did a workshop. I thought this would be a great way to build speed and accuracy. I chose the Dancing Star. I was able to get books and the DVD used. I bought the ruler new. I sort of got frustrated with the trimming and it sat until the quilt retreat. I dug in and finished it except for the borders because I don't have the right colors. All of the Square in a Square stuff is going up on ebay because although the method works, I have a hard time with the trimming accurately. I am better cutting things first, then sewing.
