Wonky Stars top

I have had the completed Wonky Stars top on my wall for a couple of weeks. Been a rough couple of weeks. Today I took it down as I do need the wall to arrange blocks. It has been on the wall long enough for me not to like it, so I think it needs to go away for a while. I can't put it on the longarm because the basement area is going through a remodel (suspended ugly ceiling taken down, floor joists and such painted white and cleaned up, LED fixtures installed between joists, knotty pine panelling primed with Bin and then 2 coats of white paint, and finally vinyl planking). My longarm is swathed in sheets and coverings to keep clean. In the end, it will be like a loft space, all in white and high exposed ceilings, right now, not so much.
I think quilting will improve it. I was excited at first because I thought it was a break through quilt with all the background values and bits of bright. Right now, brain fatigue is making it all unclear.

I think it looks great now that you have the last border on. I have to put away a lot of my quilt tops before I begin to like them. When I get them out later I wonder what I didn't like. It just needs a vacation away from you for awhile.

I agree with Vicki and Wanda - it looks great - congrats on the new space - and a vacation is all it needs. You'll like it again when you see it later - ;))

Your new space sounds like it will be great! Nothink like a "sunken" loft in the basement! You have over thought the quilt....it is a break out design! don't be your worse critic unit is is complete. Wonderful quilting will pull of the parts together. I do love that tiny strip border break.....it unites the whole thing.

Love the way the border enhances the stars - you just need a break from this top. Tuck it away and pull it out later when you are ready to add your custom quilting. Congrats on getting it to quilt top stage!

I so enjoy your blog, always a cheering sight to see something new from you. I really like this quilt, and the pale background is not at all my usual style. Your remodel sounds like a lot of hard work and time, but with a wonderful end product at the end of the tunnel.

Shame that you're not in love with Wonk8y Stars Linda, you're probably on the right track to just put it away for a little while and then you might come back and look on it differently. Hope the work in the basement is soon finished up and you get to the longarm.
