Here is the book I got the idea from and some sewn blocks. |
One of the four zig zags needed |
Another quilt, Katie's quilt from MSQC, was started. I have all 16 patches and 4 patches done. I need the white rectangles and triangles cut and sewn yet.
The last start is one I need my head examined for. I fell in love with the quilt, Harvest Dawn, at a store and foolishly bought the pattern. It is a Judy Niemeyer one and I already have Sea Urchin that is stalled. It seemed like it was a shorter and easier one and in the heat of the fabric moment, I bit. I have all the pieces in the right bags and now have to paper piece them. I can't even tell you how long I took to piece these 4. I will just have to take one bag at a time forgetting what has to be done and chip away at it, regardless how long it takes.

I like those triangles in a zig zag pattern.
I'm crazy enough to start one of those time consuming paper pieced quilts too. I have several patterns and one day I will bite again. It seems like fun for awhile and then I have a hard time making myself go back to it. I find it takes concentrating too so it isn't the best one to take to a retreat.
I can handle paper piecing for SMALL quilts but the large ones wear me out (not to mention that they can get pretty tedious/boring the longer they last). The patriotic zig zags are wonderful!!!
Number one and two are great! The pp one is only a dream.....I have a terrible time thinking in reverse to do pp now. All her patterns are so striking so I can understand how you jumped in. Just one section at a time....you can do it.
I love the string quilt that paper piece project does look like a lot of work, but it will look great when you are done.
Your Harvest Dawn blocks are lovely, I admire you for taking this one! I don't think I would have the staying power to work on one of these.
I've made two Judy Niemeyer quilts so far, including quilting. But I got started on Sea Urchins last winter, just the cutting part, and it just seemed like it was SO much work so it got put aside. I'm seriously considering getting back to it....I'd love to see how much you've accomplished so far on yours!
That last one looks like a lot of work, but, if you mix in the easier ones with the harder one, they will all get done, with less stress. Have fun!
Oooh, I love those spikey blocks!
