Although I am not sure what to do now that the rooster is pieced from the Ann Shaw class, it is all together. I was thinking a black and white checkerboard border and maybe some other blocks before a border. I would like it to be at least 30 x 34. The method does work, but will I be able to figure it out drawing my own landscapes?
Also done is an exploding square, Red White Blue for a vet. I don't know who will get this. My guild made up the kit, but I had to switch out the border from a dark red solid narrow to this more lively blue print. Now to get a backing done.

I love your rooster! It sounds like you have some good ideas for borders but maybe it should be a medallion quilt with several borders.
Looks like paper piecing? I have no doubt in your talents. Go for it
The rooster is so fun!
I don't have a concept of how large the rooster is, but had you considered using it as a household item? It would make and awesome potholder, quilted with that silver stuff and bound with one of the bright colors.
And always be on display.
Your rooster is adorable! I love the text print in the background, too. It really helps the colors of the rooster to pop. Great red, white and blue quilt, too.
Your quilt for a veteran turned out very nice! I'm sure it will be appreciated and loved.
Mr. Rooster is delightful! I just love his riotous tail full of color :)
