The next step

I have sewn the whole OBW. Now, I have to decide what to do about the edges. I have hacked them off in previous quilts straight. I am wondering if I could sew in triangles and save the points.
Would it be the same fabric as a border? What would the border be? Some kind of green to showcase the other colors? I think a solid would die against a busy inside. Not having a LQS to drag the quilt to and try things out is hard. Online, it is hard to decide because of color and scale issues. I would like to finish the whole thing and be done. Finishing a quilt has ground to a halt since the heart attack, and I want to chalk up a win real bad.

I can't imagine finding a fabric for a border even if you did have a store close by. Filling in with triangles would be with the same fabric as the center I think. Do you have enough of the fabric you cut up to try it as a border?

It's a stunning finish there Linda, considering what you've been through it's just amazing!
I'm with Wanda on the border situation, you might just find that you have enough left, you only have e the two sides to fill in.

I am in agreement with Wanda and Maureen. If not enough fabric just lop it off. It is a wild creation and those edges won't be the focal point any way.

Not me. Yes, I love this. No I would not cut it or end it to just get it over and done. Not after all the physical and mental energy. I'd breathe through this one, and let the indecision move through you. Let it go for another day/month. Forced decisions rarely make me happy. Concessions make me sad. If you shift your attention, the right fabric will come.

The top and bottom are straight, why not the sides.
Lop it off and bind it with cornflower blue (or what appears that way on my monitor. The lightest of the blue tones.)

Well you can certainly reserve the color decision till after the quilting, no?

Hi Linda, Your OBW is lovely! Lots of different ideas and opinions about this quilt, but we think your idea to sew in triangles is excellent! The points at the side would carry through the pinwheel points motifs in the center. Whatever you decide to do, it will look beautiful ! Blessings and good health to you, from Marina and Daryl Lynn
