Thinking hard, looking for a pop

I finished the side triangles for the double hourglass. They are light blue, which does not show up well in the photo. It has been very gray here, and even with the lights in the house, it does not show up well. White was too stark and darker values took away from the diagonal play in the blocks.

I participated in a batik star block swap with the Treadleon group. I made eight extra stars so I could make a 4 x 5 quilt, 12" finished blocks. My blocks are at the top and bottom and one is covering a very green star. My original 20 on the wall looked fine because the backgrounds were light value batik, but this grouping of stars needs some help. So I have been thinking of maybe skinny dark blue batik sashings, or not putting them all together. Just don't know what to do to make the stars pop. Again, poor lighting.

Love the light blue on the hourglass blocks. They appear to float now.
Dark blue or black will make the stars pop.

The double hour glass is such a cool quilt!

I would alternate the 8 stars you made with the darker background stars instead of isolating the 2 groups and maybe put the 4 busiest stars in the corners.

The light blue side triangles make the centre colours pop, lovely! Wanda has come up with a great solution, I should love to see you try this layout and do another post.

I like your quilt top. The light blue works well. You got 2 of my blocks, but, not the different ones, but the same one. Oh well. I've thought of a garden maze sashing, but, it would probably be too busy. Maybe if I frame each block, then put sashing, it will look a bit like a garden maze, but, not quite. Have fun setting them together. Mine is a project for next year. Too much left to do this year.

I love the stars you made....the centers are fun and whimsical. I think it is so neat to have swaps like this!
