Slow Octagons

Working on an octagon One Block Wonder (OBW). I sew them when I only have a few minutes because the pieces are small and be put aside easily. Sometimes I sew them as leader/enders. I like the octagon ones better than the hexagons because they sew together as whole blocks, not half hexies. More complicated, more repeats needed, but hey, looks terrific when done.

Probably only have half the octagons sewn, but they are so lovely, every one different

Before the bloom comes the bud...

I can't believe how fast May passed. The siberian iris and the roses shot out of nowhere and are now in bloom. The colors almost make me faint with their beauty. The Hot Cocoa one did not open yet, so let's hope it does soon.

Up and getting ready Siberian Iris

This variety is more Blue violet than deep violet, also shorter

All three in bud, Hot Cocoa in middle, David Austin's on either side

Jelly Twist understated tones

A Cluck Cluck Sew pattern, Jelly Twist is a great size (60 x 80) using one jelly roll and white strips. I started the blocks on the quilt retreat in March, but webbed and completed the top this week. I am toying with putting a 2 1/2" strip all around so I can have few seams on the edges in the binding, but it would make it bigger. I have been trying to stick with a 60 X 80 comfort quilt size. It was an easy pattern and I loved putting it together. The strips were a gift and they have a very nice forest feel, but hard to photo correctly.
I have another one in the works for some strips that QuiltDiva Julie sent me and will get it cut up as well as another strip one that is all sorted for strip sewing.

Spring is here and going fast...

After such long winter dull months, spring blooms are such an absolute delight. The daffodils and tulips are a powerful color punch. The tree peonies (not the hebaceous ones) have enormous but short lived blooms. Their craggy branches belie the delicate blooms that burst out. I have an older pink one and one sort of watermelon color. I would love a deep magenta one like I had long ago.
