Made fabric, now what?

First of all thanks to Preeti, I was able to meet her on her visit to Buffalo which was thrilling for me. You can checkout her post. The color of the sky in the first photo is so Lake Erie. I grew up here and saw the Lake almost every day until college and grew to love all its shades and formations and colors.
Second, due to Julie's post about the Scrap Vortex quilt, I pulled  all my made fabric and arranged them out to see and maybe figure out a scrap quilt not as pattern-less as the Scrap Vortex. I love making scrap made fabric and have it in all sizes. When I laid it all out, I still cannot figure out where to go with it. Yikes, which way do I go? Lots of questions. Got any answers?
2 1/2" Strips. Four sewn together as blocks. Bleh.
2 1/2" strips. Set of threes. Made originally when Bonnie Hunter was making them,
but she never revealed what they were for.

2 1/2" Strips. Set in columns, skinny space between?
3 1/2" Squares. How to set or what. Was thinking possibly center square with thin triangles around

6 1/2" Squares. How to set or what.
6 1/2" Squares set on diagonal. Doesn't do anything for me.
Lots of made fragments, not any shape yet.
Big fragments. Cut up smaller or add on?

Quarter log cabin made fabric set in square.

Quarter log cabin blocks on point?
Red made pieces. Keep going, trim all one size, assemble a small quilt?
Blue made pieces. Same questions as above.

Take some of the strips and sew them alongside blocks - then cut the new block crosswise and sew it to something else. My scraps were all loose bits and any orphan blocks that were in the box were chopped into thirds or quarters so they were no longer recognizable as the blocks they had been. DON'T GIVE UP!!

OR -- create a randomly scrappy column quilt -- all the quarter logs in one column, all the pinks in another, etc.

And if you don't have enough for a particular column, space the blocks apart and fill in with small bits in a companionable color (or a clearly contrasting one). (and the columns do not need to be the same width)

You may not know what to DO with it, but you certainly know how to make some MADE fabric!!! :o))

I'm with you. I can make the "made fabric blocks" but then get discouraged trying to put them together. I would probably make long columns and space with something solid. I am just not that good at jumping out of my box. But Julie has given you lots of ideas. Go for it.

Oh my goodness, Linda. So many ideas, so many possibilities. I'd love to come and play in your studio. May I suggest taking a look at Stash Statement Quilts blog hop by Kelly of My Quilt Infatuation? I had the opportunity to make a quilt from her book (Fire Pit) and recommend the patterns Beach retreat and Scattered. And thank you for the shoutout :-)

Mix them all up! Super scrappy both in fabrics and blocks.

I love "crumb" blocks - and found a great layout with a simple "alternate" block. I'm on my fourth top now. I'll email you the link to one of my posts - ;))

So many beautiful blocks! It may be that you are overwhelmed with trying to make decisions about all of them at one time. Pick one set, and try out different things and run with it. The reason I enjoy making things with scraps is because there isn't the pressure of making the perfect thing - this is "trash" anyway so if I completely mess up, I didn't lose anything. I tend to like my "trash" pieces better than the original thing I made because I have more freedom and flexibility to play and make it just the way I like without worrying what anyone else will think of it.

Totally delicious collection of bits and pieces!
How about a vortex of the strips.. starting with a centre chunk and adding strips on each side, like building a huge log cabin block, going around and around until the strips are gone? That would be fun!
